H1 Title:
Can The Layout Of The Kitchen Cabinets Be Changed?
The overall goal of kitchen cabinet refacing is to provide a cost effective alternative to completely remodeling your kitchen. Cabinet refacing allows the home owner to retain their existing kitchen layout with the possibility to add additional cabinets or a center island. By leaving the existing skeletal frame of your cabinets intact, we minimize time and amount of work necessary to update your kitchen.

Adjustments
I understand you can make some changes such as replacing an old trash compactor with a new cabinet and/or converting a wall oven to a pantry. I think that is fantastic!
Changing the kitchen footprint.
When I had my kitchen refaced through The Home Depot, I was able to have a space made for a dishwasher to be installed into my kitchen. The designer also created a new cabinet above my stove so I could install an under-mount microwave and meet the code requirement in my state for that improvement. We also added a pantry that reaches from the floor to the ceiling and added an extra deep cabinet above the refrigerator--great to store all my Tupperware. We also had a peninsula "turned sideways" so I have an island now and better traffic flow through the kitchen. The sink stayed where it was; but the entire working element of my kitchen was improved. We also removed a few short over-head cabinets to open up our space to the breakfast room. While the "foot print" generally remained the same--MY WHOLE KITCHEN IS BETTER!!!
will facelifters return to cut a cabinet they have already done?
I had facelifters do my entire kitchen in 1993. It looks terrific 17 years later. However, I want to purchase a new refrigerator and the cabinet in the space above the current refrigerator is too long. I need to have facelifters return and reconfigure that cupboard possibly ordering new doors so it can fit a higher refrigerator. When I called facelifters, I was told they would only come to do an entire kitchen, and would not help with just one cupboard.
The door is still available and the color is still in stock. In fact, I have extra laminate left by the installers in case it is needed.
The carpenter I had from the appliance store was not comfortable with the laminate so I hoped facelifters would be able to shorten the cupboard. I guess they don't help out after the "big" job is done. My kitchen cost over $10,000. 17 years ago and that was a sale price then. It would have been about $18,000.
For that amount of money I had hoped they'd stand behind their product and reconfigure a door.

Kitchen layout improved!!!
The designer from your refacing division has GREATLY improved the look and the function of our kitchen. He had the stupid, small, hard-to-reach cabinet above our refrigerator removed. He also had the skimpy wall cabinet and the very narrow base cabinet by the refrigerator removed. Now we have a wonderfully deep cabinet above the refrig with the fronts of those doors almost aligning with the front of the refrig. My wife now has a huge cabinet for all the Tupperware she has bought over the years--and it's all stored together. Backing up to the side of the refrig we now have a floor-to-ceiling pantry offering HUGE storage place. And the more she can store in our kitchen the longer she can go without getting to the grocery; that is saving us money! On the end of our new pantry that faces the kitchen the designer had decorator door panels installed--beautiful finished detail. On a scale of one to ten, where 10 is tremendous and 1 is the pits, our kitchen now is a 33!!!---way above the scale!!!
